THE FACTS
In the UK approximately 220,000 families used baby banks in 2024.
The total number of referrals to baby banks has increased by 35% year on year since 2021.
People predominantly use baby banks due to increasing poverty but they are also used by refugees and victims of abuse.
There were 4.5 million children living in poverty in the UK in 2023-24. That’s 31 per cent of children.
Child poverty blights childhoods. Growing up in poverty means being cold and going hungry.
Almost three quarters of children growing up in poverty now come from working families.
